We arrive in Terrace during a beautiful day. The Rough Guide basically describes Terrace as a miss: a logging town with few reasons to stop.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
There are stunning lakes, creeks and trails in the area. Lots of fishing opportunities and one of the best ski mountains: Shames Mountain (that comes with fantastic powder snowfalls!!!!!!!!!) There are a ton of logging roads & powerlines which are perfect for all terrain vehicles & motor bikes in the summer and skidoos in the winter. All you need is a guide to show you the ropes.
And I have the perfect in. My sister lives in Terrace. Her family runs the Timberland Trailer Park. So we even have a place to plug in the rig!
My sister takes us on a couple of fantastic bike rides (30+ km long!) through some magnificent West Coast scenery along Hwy 16. We end up at Kleanza Creek Provincial Park – where the scenery is so magnificent that local wedding parties come here to take their shots.
Here I am in the coveted wedding shot location!
It is during this ride that the ‘Barefoot Travelers’ blog is born. We spend some time at the picnic tables tossing around name ideas. So in honor of our signature theme we take some photos of our feet!
